Introduction

Drivers want a clean, frameless look without worrying about plate security. This guide explains how MagSleem magnetic license plate holders work, what’s in the box, compatibility, install basics, care, legal alignment, and FAQs.

How MagSleem works (simple & robust)

  • Magnet–magnet system: each plate uses two lateral points, and each point is a magnet pair (holder ↔ puck) → four magnets per plate.

  • Magnetic Power: up to ~18 kg per plate under ideal conditions; a front+rear set markets ~36 kg combined. Real-world values vary with flatness, alignment, and vibration.

  • Magnets & finish: Neodymium N52, Zinc-plated + black epoxy anti-corrosion for a distinct premium look.

  • Sizes: Ø20 mm magnets; thickness 5 mm (holder) & 4 mm (puck).

  • Operating range: −30 °C … +60 °C.

  • No adhesives: IPA wipes included for surface cleaning.

Classic frames vs. magnetic

  • Classic frames: bulky plastic with visible screws; the look can feel dated.

  • Magnetic holders: slim, clean aesthetic; install in minutes with a cross-head screwdriver using screw-mounted pucks (no bulky frame).

    • Note: all current kits are screw-mounted (no “no-drill” option). On honeycomb grilles, dedicated hardware clamps from behind the cell so you don’t drill the bumper.

Compatibility

  • EU 520×110 mm plates are the primary target.

  • MagSleem X works with any plate size worldwide.

  • Bumper material (aluminum/plastic/steel) doesn’t matter—retention is magnet–magnet via screw-mounted pucks.

  • Sensors/ACC/radar/cameras: no issues observed; don’t cover radar windows.

Install basics (universal)

  1. Plan the two lateral points in the designated front & rear positions; ensure the plate is flat.

  2. Clean with the IPA wipes and dry.

  3. Mount puck assemblies with the provided cross-head screws (use OEM holes when available; otherwise self-tapping as appropriate). Tighten firmly, not brutally.

  4. Align & seat: offer the plate/holders to the pucks so both lateral points bite evenly.

  5. Checks: light tug test, alignment/visibility; ensure no sensor window is blocked.

Honeycomb grille? See the dedicated Audi-style honeycomb install & test article.
For millimetric alignment, use SleemFix.

Use, car-wash & durability

  • Car-wash: keep the jet ≥30–40 cm and at an oblique angle; avoid blasting under edges. (Internal tests were OK close to ~20 cm, but leave margin.)

  • No maintenance required. Optional winter rinse after salty roads.

  • Avoid magnet slams (any magnet can chip from shock).

Legal alignment (principles)

When installed correctly, the system is aligned with the law: plates must be mounted in the designated front & rear positions and remain visible; the method isn’t specified. Outside EU/RO, check local regulations.

Warranty & returns

  • Warranty: 2 years in the EU (and where required), 1 year elsewhere.

  • Returns: 14-day EU withdrawal right + 90-day satisfaction return if the product is intact.

  • Anti-theft: no dedicated option yet; follow standard best-practice caution.

FAQs

  • Will it fit my car? Yes - MagSleem is universal; MagSleem X supports any plate size worldwide.

  • High-speed / winter / wash? Yes - when installed correctly with sensible checks; real-world Autobahn, off-road and track usage validated.

  • Is it legal? See “Legal alignment” - meets the principles when installed correctly; check local rules outside EU/RO.

  • Will it scratch paint? Pucks/caps are designed to protect; install on clean surfaces.

  • What if a magnet chips? Usually shock or over-tightening; replace the magnet (Spare parts).
